I applied online. I interviewed at Darebin City Council in Jul 2024
Interview
The recruitment process was normal up until the required pre-employment medical assessment (despite it being a desk job). I have concerns that Darebin Council is not holding up to the Equal Opportunity standards and if I had my time again I would approach the medical assessment with caution - read up on your rights. In the end I was not offered the job due to "red flags" in my health assessment without any opportunity for further discussion.

Interview
The interview panel were friendly and the questions were around workplace culture / personality so it felt relatively relaxed. The only reason I rate it as a negative experience is because they advised they would let candidates know the outcome of their interview the next day, but I never heard from them after that. Given that most hiring managers take longer than they advised to notify candidates of the interview outcome, it wasn't until two weeks passed by that I got the hint & realised they weren't planning on contacting anyone who was unsuccessful, which I thought was a bit rude (especially as they were also half an hour late to my interview). If they knew who they were going to hire the next day, even an email notification would've been appreciated so that those who were unsuccessful didn't anxiously wait for 1-2 weeks for an answer.
