      QA Engineer Interview

      May 25, 2026

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Databox (Ptuj) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I applied online and was fairly quickly invited to an introductory call with the VP of Product. It was a relaxed conversation — we talked about my background, what drew me to the role, and my general experience. No trick questions, just a genuine get-to-know-you chat. After that, I received a take-home assignment with three parts: writing a test plan and test cases, finding and reporting at least 5 bugs plus 3 UI/UX improvements, and a written exercise on how I would approach testing a weekly release. The tasks were thoughtful and realistic — the kind of work you'd actually do on the job. Within two days I heard back with positive feedback and was invited to their office in Ptuj for an in-person day. First, I had a technical review session with the current Senior QA Engineer, where we went through my assignment together and I explained my reasoning and approach. I then met with the Engineering Lead (responsible for both BE and FE teams), who asked about my programming background — relevant since I transitioned into QA from development. Finally, I had a conversation with someone from the People team focused on communication style, teamwork, and how I handle specific workplace situations. A few days later I received an offer.
