    Interview

I was disappointed by the lack of professionalism in how interview was conducted. I assume I was one of three candidates interviewed for the position. I took a day off of work and spent 7 hours on campus meeting with 30 different people. This was excessive for a middle management position. There was a 6-8 person search committee (some were not present on phone interview or in person so I assume no consistencies in who met which candidate). I assumed after a month of hearing nothing that they selected another candidate so I sent an email to follow up and confirm so I could close the book on it. I received no response. Months passed by and I never even got so much as a standard form email thanking me for my time and notifying me it was filled - incredibly poor communication and lack of respect for candidates who spent 7 hours on campus. Kindly at least send a canned response instead of leaving people hanging. It's fine if another candidate was a better match but at least communicate that to the other candidates. You had a 6-8 person search committee - no one thought to do that? The bureaucracy at DelVal was evident to me in the overly long interview day and too many people involved. This wasn't a VP job - it was a "middle" type job

    Counselor Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Delaware Valley University in March 2013.

    Interview

Applied online and was called to schedule an over-the-phone group interview. The phone interview consisted of 14 (yes- fourteen) different people speaking to me. Most spoke at the same time as others. It was a total disaster, poorly organized, and very unprofessional. After the first few questions, I was so disgusted that I gave up trying for the position. The positions required a masters degree, and max salary was only $35,000/year

    Interview Questions

    • Questions were all basic. They asked about my preferred counseling theoretical approach and then asked me to explain in detail.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Delaware Valley University (Doylestown, PA).

    Interview

I was called after submitting resume to HigherEdJobs.com. I went to the campus in person.

    Interview Questions

    • Did I understand that most of the instructors didn't stay that long and they could never guarantee that I would have a course to teach every semester?   1 Answer

    Reasons for Declining

The atmosphere was very overtly racist and felt uncomfortable as soon as I arrived on campus from the workers in the yard, the reception desk, and the office secretary. It was a very hostile environment with the intimidating stares, etc.

    Housekeeper Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Delaware Valley University (Doylestown, PA) in May 2009.

    Interview

I was told by a current coworker about a job opening at the college. A colleague of hers was management at the college so I got in contact with him and he set up an interview right away. After going over my credentials it was a done deal. The job was for a new position, mainly summer help with floor care and trash removal. Everything went through just fine and I was on board in no time.

    Interview Questions

    • It was more of a get together than an interview. Very laid back, and when it came down to business it was like most other interviews on this level of employment. No crazy questions, just basically going over qualifications   Answer Question

    Negotiation

He threw a number at me, and I accepted. It was more than what the other housekeepers on campus were making (the ones who had minimal time vested with the company). Also the opportunity for overtime was always there.
