I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Doane Grant Thornton LLP (Vancouver, BC) in Apr 2025
Interview
I had two round interviews for a manager role recently, but the experience left me frustrated and disrespected. After going through 2nd round interview, I was abruptly told I was "not ready for a manager position" but that they’d be willing to proceed this process as an senior associate role instead.
This approach is highly unprofessional. If they believed I wasn’t a fit for the manager role, that assessment should have been made before inviting me to interview—not after. Worse, it feels like a bait-and-switch tactic: they saw my senior-level certifications, skills, and experience, yet attempted to push me into a lower-tier role, likely to exploit my qualifications at a lower cost.
A company that truly values talent would:
- Be transparent about role expectations upfront.
- Respect candidates' experience instead of downgrading them mid-process.
- Offer fair compensation for skills, not try to undercut qualified professionals.
Unfortunately, this experience reflects poorly on DGT’s hiring practices. I hope they reconsider how they treat candidates in the future.

The recruitment team honours their commitments on the timelines. The process was very clear and simple. The interview was well planned and properly conducted. Spoke a lot about the firm's culture
