I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EAI Technologies (Vienna, VA) in Sep 2023

      Interview

I applied to EAI in late August. Had to complete an automated behavioral and cognitive assessment, both of which the results are not shared with you. I received an HR screen request a few days later, and scheduled it four days in advance. This interview ended up being cancelled four hours before the scheduled time. Rescheduled the screen, after which I waited one week to hear back on moving forward. I was moved forward to a "Tech 1" round, which was scheduled five days in advance. This was also canceled, one day before the interview. I met for this interview two days later instead, and was told I would hear back "early next week" on moving forward. I never heard back from EAI, instead ghosted. While I do not doubt that internally EAI may be a good company to work for, the interview process was atrocious. I have interviewed and worked for multiple companies that are "people first", and in my experience they were polar opposites from this process. There is essentially zero ice-breaker to EAI's interviews, rather a "lets jump into it" mentality. The HR screen is simply used to weed out the most basic of programmers. So if you are planning on getting any idea of the company, be prepared with a list of questions because this interview is simply a google sheet questionnaire with simple coding questions. The next interview is exactly the same. Jump right into coding, but in a google doc instead. While the questions again are rather easy, I was nervous due to never having done any sort of "technical" before. With zero rapport you are expected to jump right into writing functions inside of a google doc. I answered these questions albeit with some hints. I was caught on one obvious bug, and when I did not have an immediate answer one of the devs visibly smirked and looked over to the other dev. I understand why it would have been humorous, however whiteboarding isn't necessarily reflective of true thought processes and was rather humiliating to experience. Apart from that, the people I interacted with mostly pleasant. It would have been nice to at least hear back on the rejection rather than being ghosted. It took basically a full month to get two interviews in, giving the impression that EAI does not respect candidate's time at all. It also would have been nice to feel as if I was being interviewed as a person rather than strictly for hard skills. Coming to this platform it appears they do a high quantity of interviewing, which makes sense with how streamlined my entire interview process felt. Thankfully I have since received an offer from a different company and won't be wasting my time with interview processes such as this one. If EAI is truly as people oriented as claimed, please look to this review not as a negative but as a chance to improve and make your interviews more personable. It won't always be an employer's market.

Hello there - we sincerely apologize for the last-minute cancellations. We are a very small company and if our interviewer has a pressing client action, then we try to get a substitute and are not always successful - regardless our bad on that. Our automated reply system on not moving forward should have generated a rejection email. If a system fault or landing in spam email perhaps but ghosting is never our intention. I appreciate you putting a positive spin in your last paragraph to help us improve - thanks for that - we will do better. Cheers, V (CEO)

The process started with a phone screen followed two technicals. They said next would be systems design and interview with their CEO before full day rapid fire interviews on site.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at EAI Technologies in Nov 2023

      Interview

Did both stages of the interview within a week. First round: HR Screening. Short meeting where the recruiter reads off a script some questions then you answer. Then you are linked to a google form where you are asked very basic questions to code in a language of your choice. Second round: Meeting with two software engineers. No questions asked just went straight to coding problems once joined. They watch you code and assist you with your answer if anything is missing. Thought I did well, but did not get a email back after completing this round. Did not feel good or bad about the interview process. It did make me realize that I wanted a more personal interview instead of one that seemed very choreographed.
