      Sales Advisor Interview

      Apr 29, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Epsom, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at EE (Epsom, England) in Apr 2025

      Interview

The overall interview process was relatively short, consisting of a video interview, a phone call, and a final in-person stage. The atmosphere was generally okay, but the in-person interview felt quite rushed, with quick scenario-based questions that didn’t allow much time to elaborate. The presentation section was particularly limiting, as you were given only five minutes to prepare and deliver it, which felt inadequate for showcasing relevant skills. Additionally, there was a shop floor simulation where you had to assist a customer and offer product advice—an element that was helpful in showing the practical side of the role. However, the final stage of the interview ultimately felt unnecessary. For a position primarily focused on sales, the process seemed overly complex and not particularly insightful. Having gone through all these steps and spending money on travel only to receive no feedback at all, left the experience feeling like a waste of time.

      Interview

I was interviewed by one person, there was someone else who was taking down notes from the interview. He asked me general questions like what customer service experience I had and what I knew about the company. But also asked spontaneous questions like how creative was I and to sell him a pen. He constantly kept asking me if I had any questions for him.

      Sales Advisor Interview

      Jan 12, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Sunderland, North East England, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at EE (Sunderland, North East England, England) in Jan 2025

      Interview

Applied for the job on indeed and was sent an online assessment to complete. I received an email a few days later asking when I would be free for a “quick chat” over the phone. The chat lasted about 15 minutes, I was asked generic interview questions such as why I applied for the job and what makes me a good fit, then I was invited to a face-to-face interview at the end of the phone call. The face-to-face interview took place a few days after the phone call. It lasted two hours, the first was spent sitting with an advisor listening to them taking calls, and the last hour was the actual interview. I had been sent an email before the interview asking to prepare a small presentation about either a skill I could teach the interviewers or a new product that EE could offer, which I completed, but wasn’t actually asked to show this and was only asked briefly what option I chose. I found that once the interviewers knew of my age ( I am 19, don’t display this on my CV and hadn’t been asked of my age in the first stages of interview) they were no longer interested and asked questions which they wouldn’t have asked other candidates e.g. “What would I find you doing on a Saturday night? Clubbing” and “What would you do if you had to work early on a Sunday morning” after I had just specified that I only live a short walk from the business park. I was also asked how I felt about the salary to which I answered that I thought it was fair, and great for me personally to be on a set salary after working in hospitality for 3 years, and somehow the interviewers managed to take this as I wouldn’t want to work towards sales targets because I’m not driven by money? Felt like I was being set up at times and that no matter how I answered I was wrong. Other than this it was a normal interview, questions such as why you want to work for us, what will you bring to the role, is there anything you would do differently to how the advisor you listened in with did. I didn’t receive a job offer which I found out a few days after the interview. Overall wouldn’t recommend as I felt some of the interview questions were quite strange and inappropriate to ask.
