      Junior C++ UI Developer Interview

      May 23, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Munich, Bavaria
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I applied online. I interviewed at EGYM (Munich, Bavaria) in Mar 2019

      Interview

      Stage 1: Hackerrank coding test (very simple) Stage 2: Call with HR (non-technical) Stage 3: Hackerrank coding test Stage 4: Technical interview with several people, including discussion about previous hackerranks. In the final stage, I was bombarded with technical questions for almost two hours. I was assured I would have time to ask the team members (and team lead) questions about the position at the end. However, all technical members ran out as soon as the interview ended. I was left with an HR person who could not answer my technical questions about the job. After a couple of days, I received an offer. First, the compensation offered was much lower than what I asked for. Upon inquiring why that was so, they informed me it was more than what I asked for. However, the amount was discussed in the earlier interviews, and it seemed either malicious or incompetent to quote the wrong amount back to me. Second, the offer was an exploding one: meaning I had just the weekend to decide whether to accept the offer or not, otherwise it would be gone. I was pressured into making a decision, by them claiming that they were interviewing other candidates, and that I had to be very quick with my answer. Fortunately, I had much better offers at that time, and refused to give them an answer without thinking about it thoroughly. After this, I was told to take as much time as I need to make my decision. In conclusion, this has to be the worst interview process I have undergone, and I rejected their offer soon afterwards.

      Dear Glassdoor Member, Thank you for your open feedback. It’s sad to hear that you were not satisfied with our recruiting process. Every day we do our best to keep the recruiting process as pleasant as possible for our candidates. We want to make sure that not only we as a company get to know you, but also you get a good understanding of us. This is why we offer different rounds (with the technical team, HR and management) so that the candidates can ask all the questions they deem important. Furthermore, we offer an office tour after the personal interview where we are happy to answer questions that come up later. During the tour, we show you the department for which you applied so that further questions can be asked also to the team. We really feel sorry, that you felt under pressure regarding the decision. We will take your feedback very seriously and will make sure that our communication gets improved. Best, eGym HR-Team
