Talked with a recruiter over phone screen, hiring managers, and a panel of engineers over the span of a couple weeks this past winter 2021. Typical phone screen, behavioral interview, and technical take-home assessment and follow up discussion. after some back and forth, I declined the offer. They don’t have a bonus structure but were willing to give a sign-on bonus. Total comp only based on salary and the salary offer wasn’t competitive :/ The DEAL BREAKER though was only 2 weeks vacation. Apparently vacation is non-negotiable for new hires for any position. That’s unfortunate especially for todays industry, but what can you do. Would’ve liked to have seen a bigger salary offer to compensate for the lack of vacation.
