I applied online. I interviewed at FUJIFILM (Gilbert, AZ) in Jan 2018
Interview
Basic competency questions on instrumentation as well as general work experience and scenario exercises. Panel of two lab managers were present during the interview process, both of which were hiring.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What’s an instrument you have used that you fully understand. How does that instrument fundamentally work?
Panel interview. Generally nice people.
Be prepared for technical questions.
At the end of the interview, I asked "when people choose to leave, what is typically their reasoning?" and their response was "The company is growing faster than management can keep up." (ie poor management) and "It's an intense high volume of demanding work that people generally don't expect." (overworked, underpaid), and finally "They get better offers elsewhere." (underpaid again). The amount of red flags just wasn't worth it for me to accept the offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Standard "what would you do in x scenario", "Name a time when x happened and how you resolved it".
There were kind of a lot of "Describe a time you worked in a stressful situation" type questions.
Technical questions included:
Pick an instrument from the application and describe in detail the theory behind it.
How do you make 1 M solution of x chemical?
What is 1 ug/L in ppb?
