I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at First Derivatives (Newry, Northern Ireland) in May 2017
Interview
Assessment day. This involved a group introduction and explanation about the assessment process. You are then interviewed by two separate people in different rooms and this follows a normal interview process by reviewing your CV and knowledge about the company. This is then followed by a group project for which your given 15 mins prep time. Finally your are given 40 mins to complete a logic test. - Yet to hear result of interview but thought the whhole process was handled very well.

Interview
Applied for the trading technology options program, was contacted about a phone interview for the futures program which I had never applied for. Contacted FD and was told that they were in low demand for the position I applied for so thought I could be suitable for another role within the company which was good of them to do so. During the phone interview I mainly talked about the trading technology role, as after reading about the futures program I wasn't interested in taking on that role. Was then told that due to my A level results not meeting the criteria I was not applicable to the options program which trading technology was part of. Explained to the interviewer that the A levels I completed were 2 sciences and a maths which I was almost certain most applicants did not have and that they should reconsider. Interviewer said that she can discuss this with her superior and I was grateful for that. Was told at the end of the interview to check junk mail within the next few days as the invite for the next stage could end up there, end interview.
Checked junk mail next day to find an email from FD Jobs was sent 5mins after my interview ended saying that I was unsuccessful in the futures program which I thought was ok because I didn't want it. Scrolled through the rest of my junk mail to find that I had actually been invited to a phone interview for the trading technology role 2 weeks before....
Up until then I had a positive experience and positive impression of First Derivatives, but to be told several reasons why I wasn't being considered for the role all to be pure lies is an absolute joke. Don't bother applying for First Derivatives at all if they're going to lie to you like this even before you get the job.
