      Application

I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Frontiers (New York, NY) in Aug 2022

      Interview

My overall experience as positive, took up to 5 weeks. I applied for the Review Operations Manager; the interview process consisted of 3 stages (1. Recruitment Calls 2. Interview with Portfolio Managers 3. Final call with Head of Review Operations   My overall experience as positive, took up to 5 weeks. I applied for the Review Operations Manager; the interview process consisted of 3 stages (1. Recruitment Calls 2. Interview with Portfolio Managers 3. Final call with Head of Review Operations Recruitment Call: Spoke with Joanna P. Very nice, concrete questions. Need to review the Peer Review process (understand how it works and how to describe it), questions related to Line Management, and what I think I will do as a Review Operations Manager. Definitely different atmosphere, however at the same time, it is good idea to request interviewees to become prepared (this was emphasized in the email prior to interview)   Portfolio Managers Call: Emphasis on personal CV, Peer Review process, lots of STAR questions (how to deal with difficult situations, how to deal with underperforming individuals etc)   Head of Review Operations: There were 5 questions here, they jumped right into the questions. Unfortunately, one of the heads spoke very quickly, not to clear and it was a bit challenging to understand. There were STAR questions, one was related to Data and how important is Data. The heads were nice, so I can’t say anything negative here.   Overall, demanding interview process, you need to do your homework and come prepared. The salary offered was high so I understand the expectations. Unfortunately I did not obtained the offer, but I did have feedback, and I was in contact after each stage with recruiting manage within 5 business days. Also, before each interview I was advised through email what was expected, with links etc (so no reason why someone would not be prepared)

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Frontiers in Mar 2022

      Interview

I was firstly invited to a first stage initial conversation with someone from the recruitment team. She was lovely but it was definitely a script, it was difficult to build rapport due to this. Also, they expect you to know the whole peer review process before this and ask you to explain it to them step by step. Someone in the middle of 10-20 different processes cannot spend the time to learn this when it’s an initial conversation as a part of a 3 step process, it just seems unreasonable. They also focussed a lot on what my understanding of the role was, and kept asking me to list things from the job description. Usually these conversations are for them to tell you a little more about the role rather than test your memory. However, it went well and the recruiter was very nice and I was invited to a second stage. The second stage was a presentation and was sent out without checking my availability even though I am still in full time employment which is a strong dislike for me. The presentation was ‘a short plan of what you want to achieve in your first 100 days of appointment’ - this type of presentation seems very arbitrary to me, especially when this role is very specialist so it’s difficult to have a great understanding of it from that one conversation. There would also be competency based questions and I was told they will check my understanding of the peer review process in depth. Overall it was not a bad experience, the lady I dealt with was kind and the company came across well. I cancelled my second stage as I accepted another position.
