      Application

      I interviewed at GE Aerospace

      Interview

They promised me travel, big pay raises, and education options, but once I was hired all of that went out the window. I interviewed with several managers and one panel.

      Question 1

They brought out a meshed model and asked where the biggest FEA issues would exist.

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Lynn, MA) in Nov 2010

      Interview

Got an email to schedule a phone interview. Had phone interview, then 2 days later (on a Friday) an on-site interview. The on-site interview consisted of 4 1:1 interviews, 30 minutes each. Talked to a hiring manager, a principal engineer, a peer, and then HR. No real technical questions except some follow up technical questions after I talked about my past experiences. After the interviews, they took everyone on a tour of one of the factory areas and then provided some lunch (sandwiches and cookies). After lunch the hiring manager met with me separately and told me (unofficially) that they will be making an offer. The next Tuesday, I got the phone offer, and the next wednesday after that, the electronic offer letter. Whole process from initial email about the job to faxing the acceptance form and taking the drug test was about 2 weeks.

      Engineer/Technologist Interview

      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (West Chester, OH)

      Interview

My initial contact was with a human resources representative who set up a phone screen with one of the hiring managers. After that screening, I was contacted again by human resources and told they wanted to do an in person interview. The actual interview was actually 5 interviews, one with HR, one with the hiring managers, one technical interview, and two other "GE value" type interviews. The HR rep told me that they were making an effort to back to interviewees quickly after the in person interviews, and that was the case. I had an offer about 1 week later.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The technical interview was not necessarily hard, but you have to know engineering fundamentals or else it won't go well. Also, the HR interviewer will make you feel relaxed and tell you their interview is not as important; but hiring managers have told me after starting work that HR has vetoed candidates that the managers wanted based on what they found out in that interview. So stay on your game the whole time.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Cincinnati, OH) in Sep 2011

      Interview

Interview consisted of a 5 minute presentation on yourself, a 1:1 technical interview, and three 1:1 behavioral interviews. The last part was a group exercise which focused on teamwork and leadership. All of the interviewers seemed like they were interested in what I had to say. They want to see leadership so make sure to stress your leadership roles.
