I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Grand Rapids, MI) in Jan 2013
Interview
I applied on-site and quickly received an email response (within a few days) requesting a phone interview/screening with an HR representative. After that, there was a 20 minute phone interview with the hiring manager followed by a full day on-site interview with various engineers. The questions were mostly behavioral in nature, but there were definitely technical questions.

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Grand Rapids, MI) in Jan 2015
Interview
Interviewed with multiple managers in the room then with each manager separately. Interview took hours, with plenty of questions about my past and resume to gauge where/if I fit into the organization.
I saw the job posting a couple of days after it was posted. I applied and was called back the next day to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was later that week, and then in a couple of weeks I flew out for an onsite interview, which lasted most of a full day.

My interviews were mostly with technical staff, so the questions focused on my previous work. It was a very friendly experience.
