      Machine Learning Research Engineer Interview

      Jun 4, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Graphcore

      Interview

Initial 10 minute phone call and then sent a list of potential research projects that they were looking into. Then a week later there was a 1 hour Zoom interview (although the interviewer didn't want to use video). Occasionally felt the interviewer was slightly distracted or maybe doing something else in the background. They were occasionally slightly unresponsive to both my question and answers but overall seemed friendly and helpful.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked about my background. Asked about which potential projects I was interested in from the list. Asked some basic questions on ML fundamentals (i.e. How are bias and variance related to over/underfitting) and a few more in-depth questions about specific algorithms (difference between GRU and LSTM).
