      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HSBC (London, England) in Sep 2011

      Interview

It was a three stage interview process with the line manager, HR and senior management. It was a mix of technical questions and fit with the culture. I was briefed by the recruiter on what to expect beforehand which was helpful in some ways. When I couldn't answer a question, I said so rather than fumble the question.

      Question 1

Why HSBC? Walk me through your CV? Views on the global economy and markets? What are your career goals?

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at HSBC in Feb 2024

      Interview

The interview process took 5 months. I had 7 rounds/interactions: (1) HR screening, (2) recoding myself on video answering two job-specific questions, (3) psychometric screening test, (4) interview with one team member, (5) a case study which has a part of it preparing presentation about over 30 private companies in portfolio, including their competitors (data which is not publicly available) and took over 2 full days to complete. The case study was never discussed in any subsequent interviews, (6) interview with two other members of the team, (7) interview with another member of the team. HR did not answer any questions about interview process. The video conference system did not work and as a result, my interviewer did not show up at the interview twice (because of that interviews were postponed for over a week). They do not provide options for interview giving you only one option (date and time) to join the call. The wait time between the rounds was 2-4 weeks. I went to the last round of the interview process, but at the end no constructive feedback. After 7 rounds of interviews and being shortlisted the company provided one line "feedback" saying that I do not match "talent they were looking for".

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What is your experience in fintech? Tell us about yourself. What is your experience in business development? No discussion of the case study. General questions about work experience.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HSBC (Hong Kong) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Slow process. Human Resources very friendly but possibly too much in control. The process was extremely lengthly and at the end there was no feedback. Only canned standard template reply.
