I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hermosa Beach Marketing (Hermosa Beach, CA) in Feb 2011

Interview

Hiring is done in a group setting. You will sit with a group panel looking at you and asking you questions. OF Course this is if you get an interview which others said was rather difficult. I met the owner while he was speaking in a business plan class. He told me "perfect people listen to no one". I asked him if he was hiring. He asked me if I go to church. I said no. He asked me if I have been to jail. I said yes. He asked me if I'd feel comfortable working with people that don't go to church and have been to jail. I said yes. I was invited to the interview to discuss making things work better. Various people who would be directly related to my work process were there asking me questions about what they do and what things that they do mean. I answered in various languages and techie talk. They said I was reliable and I was hired at the top of my salary range.

Interview Questions
  • It was something like... When you are at work ... will you be able to stay in the present about work,... ? When you are at home... will you be able to avoid day dreaming about work... ?

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hermosa Beach Marketing (Hermosa Beach, CA) in Oct 2010

Interview

I have been here at Hermosa for a few years now. Getting an interview means you have to submit a 30 minute screencast of you working. We only hire creative tech people so you pretty much have to have a working knowledge of your craft at an expert's level to even be considered for an interview. Then a 4 hr prove it session. You bring in all of your equipment and setup to prove it. 4 hours of scrutiny as a panel watches you work. The panel is your direct contact people for your skills. My interview was just like this however smaller company at the time. The ownership is only looking for the top 1% of talent and only about 1% even make it to a prove it session. Once you are called back, you win your own station and get to move your setup temporarily into the newbie space for about a month. The rest is secretly awesome.

Interview Questions
  • Keyboard shortcuts are a must for mastering your craft. FYI.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Hermosa Beach Marketing (Hermosa Beach, CA) in Jul 2009

Interview

The interview process is simple. Sparks will walk in the room. There will be about 5 other people present to apply. Its held once a month. You get to work on whatever you'd like. You work alone with headphones on whatever you want. Some people have drank or smoked or got high. There are different jobs available so there are different ways that each profession interviews. You can't work here unless you have been arrested or have some sort of history. The group will decide if they want to work with you. Almost nobody makes the cut, but the people who you will work with are amazing at what they do. Its well worth it.

Interview Questions
  • The question changes but mostly includes something like. Why am I a god. You plug your laptop into the station. You work for 4 hours on whatever your answer is. You are required to take screenshots of each tool you use. Its reviewed by everyone who works on that particular day.

Any genuinely good way to answer the "biggest weakness" question without sounding like a cliche. Anyone have any good examples?

Travel Specialist

I interview with this place about a week and a half ago. I think it went well and in the interview she said the next step would be a writing example, so I did that. Sent it to them the day it was due and haven't heard back since. She did say any next steps would be after thanksgiving since everyone was busy and their calendars full last week. I followed up on Monday with an email, but haven't heard back. Maybe it's taking awhile or should I try again end of week? I would at least like feedback.
