      Impact Interview

      Sep 11, 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Aiea, HI
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hollister Co. (Aiea, HI) in Jul 2012

      Interview

I'm a huge fan of Hollister and other Abercrombie companies and do 90% of my shopping there. I needed some extra cash so I decided to go in and apply. You apply at a computer that's set up on a wall right by the cash registers. The screen is on the wall and the keyboard pulls out. In the application you choose a day to come back for group interviews, and you can choose from a drop down menu where they have several dates & times posted for upcoming interviews, which were Tuesday or Friday at varying times. I was there on a Tuesday so I chose Friday at 4 pm. I came back dressed in casual Hollister style: leather flip flops from Gilly Hicks, dark wash Hollister jeggings with a leather Hollister belt, a white Hollister tube top, and a grey Hollister sweater that had a lace back. You don't have to wear Hollister to the interview, I just chose this outfit from observing Hollister style and how the employees were dressed. The interview itself was really easy. There were 7 other people interviewing with me. The store manager took us out to another area in the mall so that we could talk (the store itself was way too loud and there isn't room anywhere else in the store). She had us sit on one side if we were applying for impact, and the other side if we were applying for model (you choose in the application, but can decide to switch at the interview after hearing the job descriptions). She then asked us questions, some were directed for only impact or only model, and other questions were for everyone. They were really easy, mostly based on describing examples of how we work well with other people and how we accomplished completing a task in a short time. Then she gave us the opportunity to ask questions, and it's always important to ask to show more interest in the company and the job. I asked about the next step in the hiring process (like if there are second interviews or anything like that). The group interview is the only interview you get, and she said that if we were going to be offered a job we would hear back within the next couple days. I got a call back from the manager 3 days later on Monday around 3 pm offering me a position as impact, which I accepted. Note: impact are the stock steam and 'models' are the sales associates. The job title is model but they don't ever actually model. They're called models because they are the 'face' of Hollister.

      I interviewed at Hollister Co.

      Interview

Easy, basic questions. I do think there may be a bias towards some people but overall was a basic interview. Not sure how they run it now but my interview was done in the mall food court.
