Interview

I applied for a sales rep position that Homestar had posted on Indeed. Soon after, I received a message and then a call from a very personable representative and we did a quick 20 minute phone screening before setting up an in person interview. I came in for about an hour long in-person interview with another rep who asked me questions about myself and explained a lot about the company. This interview went quite well and when we concluded the rep said that I seemed like I would be a great fit for the company and I would need to come in for one more in-person meeting to go over financial specifics and take the next step. This second in-person meeting had a very different feel than the phone screening and first interview. Not much was asked of me or about me and I basically just listened to a detailed presentation of their pay and benefit structure. At the end of this, after I asked a few questions, I said it seemed like a great opportunity and I’d like to move forward with the company. I was told that they don’t want too many sales reps as it would thin out the opportunities for the reps they already employed and they could give me a call in “a month or two” to set up a zoom meeting, but never really told me if they were actually interested in hiring me or not. This was very confusing to me as I had already talked to two different people within the company who I got along with well and seemed to like me a lot as a prospective hire. Maybe in the end they just didn’t like me, but after making it all the way to a third interview I assumed I had impressed them. I don’t know why they had me come to multiple interviews if the position I was applying for wasn’t even available for me to fill.

Interview

The recruiter was quick to contact and schedule a phone interview. A phone call opened with information about the company, asking about my expectations and standard interview questions. The scheduling process was very organized. The second interview was in person which went into more detail about the position and company culture. The office had a warm welcoming atmosphere and interviewer was direct with next steps and information.

Interview

Janelle was my first interview. I was extremely nervous at first but as soon as she walked in the room with a big smile, I was at ease. During the interview she asked questions about myself, and my experience, but made it fun and comfortable. Even though Janelle was energetic, she was still able to show that this is a serious business, and it is a professional environment. My second interview was with one of the owners, Anton. This interview was more of a “they’re interviewing me and I’m interviewing them”. Anton was extremely professional, and really kind. He asked about my previous jobs and skills. He then told me all about Homestar, the job itself and what is to be expected. Afterwords I met Austin who explained more about the job itself. He also made me really want the job when he started to talk about the environment and that it was like a family (I think it was to show that your not alone in this job you always have someone who can help you/how you do with others). One thing he said that really stood out to me was “You wake up actually excited to go to work, cause everyone there makes your day”. Overall it was a pleasure to meet with all of them, and I’m grateful for their time.

Difficult Interview
Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at HomeStar Remodeling (Wilmington, DE) in Mar 2021

Interview

The interview process is pretty decisive and strict, I had posted my application and applied through linked in I made sure I did a thorough review of the company before I applied. I got call about a week later to set up my first interview I got there early sat and they gave me a personality test as I finished that I went into the interview room and he read my results to me and explained what it all meant and why they use it to choose which position would work best. You might have applied to one position but they will talk to you about possibly accepting a different one, they will ask you if you have reliable transportation and what you are looking for in the future and if you feel as though this job would be a good fit and why? as well as what happened at your last job and why you left they show care and interest in that way to make sure it will be. good fit so make sure you ask all the questions you have they will have the answer, Then if you pass the first interview they will call you and schedule another interview with one of the company's higher ups and he/she will ask you more difficult questions like about your drive and motivation and how you'll be able to contribute. Then if you get passed that you might have another interview or a phone call telling you your hired!
