After submitting my online application, I was invited to an in-person interview with the CEO at IMO. The building was very attractive and modern, and I could genuinely imagine myself working there. In my view, the interview went well; however, some of the questions the CEO asked felt as though my honest answers were later interpreted in a different way than I intended. At one point he commented that I should “listen more,” which confused me—after all, in an interview I am expected to respond to the questions being asked. That is the nature of an interview.
At the end of the meeting, I was promised a decision within a week. I eventually received a response after eight days informing me that they had decided not to proceed with my application. As the CEO had emphasised that he values openness and honesty, I asked for feedback on the decision, but I have not received any reply.
Overall, the process was acceptable. IMO seems like a typical German company, but I was left with the impression that applicants with a strong personality may not easily fit in, as the organisation might not quite know how to handle them.
