Well, it started out well. Professional, courteous, and timely.
I was contacted via email by a recruiter. She never screened me but set me up with an interview with an attorney via phone. A week or two went by and the recruiter emailed me asking my availability to come down for an interview (I am out of state). As it happened, I planned to be in the area on holiday with my family and volunteered time out of this holiday to meet with them. I did not hear from the recruiter again, so I contacted her to learn if I would indeed meet with anyone, as I was getting ready to leave on holiday. Finally, the agenda was set.
I then spent half a day of my holiday meeting with various individuals, but, not the hiring manager. Red flaf #10324 of the process.
6 weeks after, I have yet to even be told I am not moving forward. I get not being able to contact every applicant, but you have a professional obligation to do so with those you speak with, and most certainly with those with whom you meet.
Each and everyone I met with had nothing good to say about the company. They all seemed completely disengaged and commented on top leadership as being "his way and no other way" and as long as you agree with him and cater your proposals to align with this thinking, you'd be fine. No, I wouldn't be fine and any professional would run for the hills. They believe their ATS is the only recruitment tool needed. Not everyone needs to have their performance reviewed or be given feedback.
Just awful. The recruiter barely greeted me and had the personality of a brick wall.
HR professionals: You deserve better. You CANNOT influence those who lack leadership to be leaders themselves, so do not fool yourself. Palm trees and warm winters aren't enough. This company needs a lesson in culture and engagement.
