I applied online. I interviewed at Idlewild Partners
Interview
To their credit, the company moves very quickly and are transparent about the process. There is an intro call which feels like it should be with HR, but they do not have that capacity yet. A general interview with the COO, technical interview, mock discovery session with the founder, writing sample and lastly a sandbox exercise.
The first interview with the COO is a mix of everything, some behavioral questions, technical and consulting. He is upfront that its very dense and he may come off as rude to keep the conversation flowing. I want to say its preferable to a panel interview where there is no conversation at all and you are talking to multiple folks. He is trying to see how you do under pressure, questions are rapid fire. The issue is there was a point when I misspoke and he did not let me finish and instead talked over me.
Also they pride themselves on hiring folks not solely for their certs or technical knowledge, but I got the feeling that is beginning to change as roles within the company are becoming more specialized. Cultural fit does not seem to be a priority as most of the staff works remotely across the country.
Again its nice they told me right away I was not moving forward and it’s a step up from being ghosted. But at this level of interaction, candidates deserve feedback.
