      Designer Interview

      Jan 17, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Illustria in Feb 2015

      Interview

I had a skype interview with one of the creative director and a recruiter. They asked the most typical and boring questions that you can find online everywhere. This is huge turn off for me after few minutes. I started to lose my interest. They just seemed not smart at all. The creative director was really awkward and seemed unhappy. It was just really frustrating to talk to them.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Constant and direct feedback is one of our values as a company, because both our team and design work are strengthened through honest critique. Illustria has grown and matured over the last year, and one of the areas we've really invested in overhauling is recruiting. We have changed up a lot of the old interview questions in order to focus on each designer's creativity, skill, passion, initiative, teamwork, and communication. I think if you were to interview again today, it would be a really substantive, enjoyable conversation. In fact, we're currently hiring, so I encourage you to check out our new job descriptions and quick online application! Thanks again for your feedback. I'd love for you to give Illustria another chance, and see if we've improved the candidate experience over the last year. As a young company we are constantly changing and growing, and I'm very proud to represent us today. Ellen Greer Design Recruiter

      Interview

I was apprehensive about applying to this company because of the other reviews but the position was posted everywhere. That should have been a major sign for me but I applied anyway. A few days after applying I received an email about setting up an interview. I opted for the phone interview. The interviewers had a very cold tone and did not seem interested in truly getting to know me. This was a big turn off for me. They asked the basic interview questions anyone could find online and then asked to discuss my work. With my work, their only concern was how long it took to complete each project. This was the worst interview experience I've ever had. I really lost interest in the position within the first few minutes. I hope the staff reads this and changes their interview approach.
