      Case Manager Interview

      Feb 21, 2011
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 days. I interviewed at JAMS (Los Angeles, CA) in Jul 2010

      Interview

I was first contacted by their HR manager to discuss my overall background and qualifications, which were a good fit with them. I came highly recommended by one of their employees, and I had a lot of contacts in the legal profession that would have been a value-add and they knew it. I was invited to come in and meet with the office manager, and during the interview she brought in the person I would be replacing since she was going back to law school. Overall, the interview was very positive and encouraging. I felt things were going extremely well, and they asked if I could meet with their regional operations manager the next day, which I did. It was during that interview that I felt things didn't go so well. Maybe it was me, but I felt like I was being sized up for my lack of style (I wore a black slacks and a jacket and heels, nothing too exciting, but professional), rather than my experience, and the fact that I didn't have the 4-year degree they would like. I was told they encouraged their employees to continue their education, didn't like office chit-chat and gossip and expected their case managers to dress nicely...so they could sit at a desk all day, but whatever). Anyway, I didn't hear back for a couple of weeks, and when I called I was told that I should continue to interview as they hadn't made a decision. I had another offer so I went with that one, and never did hear back or receive a letter thanking me for my time. Disappointed since I thought it was a great fit.
