      Developer Support Engineer Interview

      May 5, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Tel Aviv-Yafo
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at JFrog (Tel Aviv-Yafo) in Mar 2023

      Interview

I had a mixed experience with Jfrog's hiring process. While the interviewers were knowledgeable and kind, I was disappointed by the company's lack of punctuality and communication during the process. In each phone or Zoom interview, the interviewers were late by 10-15 minutes, which was frustrating and unprofessional. Here are the first interviews I went through: - Initial HR phone call screening. - Phone call interview with one of the team leaders that included technical and personal question. - 15 minutes late - 1.5h long Zoom technical interview. - 10 minutes late. After passing all the stages above, I was scheduled for an on prem interview with an HR partner and the head of Jfrog's Support dept in Israel. The interview was set to take place on a Thursday, and was scheduled one week in advance. During this week I have received several ofers to work on that Thursday, doing random waitering gigs that I do during this time of job hunting (gotta support the wife and kid). I have of course refused these offers due to the interview. When Thursday finally came along, 40 minutes before the interview Jfrog called saying that they have to reschedule the interview. When realizing that I have cleared my schedule that afternoon and gave up around 500 ILS worth of work, only for them to rescheduled the interview without skiping a beat, I've decided to send them an email expressing my dissapointment from the cancelation and from their poorly evalutaion of people's time, and to announce that I am cancelling my interviewing process with the company. Following the email, I received a phone call from Jfrog's HR appologizing and asking that I dont cancel. I was reluctant at first but eventually agreed. The face to face interview went well, I felt. However, I have received a phone call two days later letting me kniw that I did not pass the interview. Overall, I would recommend that Jfrog improve their communication and punctuality during the interview process to provide a better experience for prospective employees. While the interviewers were technically professional and knowledgeable, the lack of timeliness and communication during the process made it difficult to have a positive experience..

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at JFrog (Sunnyvale, CA) in Feb 2025

      Interview

      1. 30 minute phone interview with recruiter to discuss my background, 2. 30 minute video interview with hiring manager to go over my resume and what makes me a good candidate. Went over company hybrid policies, on-call schedule. 3. 90 minute technical interview with hiring manager and another manager to complete 4 tasks. Unfortunately I barely completed the first task with finding a text file on a server with linux command. Very friendly environment and helpful. Gave me a lot of insight into network troubleshooting that I never thought of like difference between ping(UDP) and traceroute(TCP). telnet only tests ports that are allowed by the firewall. Just bummer I'm not skilled enough to move on and join the team.
