Was reached out through a recruitment agency, and then had an initial phone call with the team director. The call covered usual fit type questions on reasons for joining, past projects done, working style etc. For the next round I was given a case study and had a proposal and project plan to work on over a weeks time. Once they were happy with that, they had a 2 hour video interview which included presenting the proposal, answering questions around it, followed by intense grilling with competency type questions. The interview seemed very positive, except then they ghosted me for 4 weeks. After some haggling the recruitment company finally came back with extremely unhelpful feedback which centred nothing around the case study work done. In fact I have no idea why they asked a detailed project plan to be submitted because no where did they ask me to go through it. Sounds like a way to get intellectual property out of prospective candidates and use it for their benefit. Also beware - they are extremely averse to working with internationals. I faced a lot of scrutiny on my visa status, despite not needing sponsorship by them. Even then they said they are unsure about my application because they are worried my partner will lose his job and I’d have to leave the country. No where in my past job hunting have I ever faced such questions on my visa status. I wouldn’t have minded if the final feedback seemed genuine, but it was simply worded “not very sure on some answers”. Now I wonder if it came down to other non interview factors.
