I applied for the Merchant Monitoring Analyst position at LegitScript, based in Portland, OR, and received a response just four days later. Following an initial screening, I participated in an interview with two hiring managers. The interview proceeded smoothly and was conversational, with a focus on understanding my qualifications and how they aligned with the role. As part of the interview process, I was asked to demonstrate my sleuthing skills on the web, which took approximately 5–10 minutes. I was initially informed that a recruiter would reach out to me by the beginning of the week. After receiving no update, I followed up with a recruiter and was later told that they were waiting for additional candidates to begin their interviews due to scheduling conflicts on the candidates’ end. A week later, I ultimately received a rejection email, even though the hiring managers seemed interested in my skills and qualifications. This left me feeling as though my time and energy had been wasted throughout the month-long process, and I felt like I was a backup option before anyone else accepted their offer.
