      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Loro Piana (Chicago, IL) in Oct 2022

      Interview

After missed opportunities over the past few years of applying for a position with Loro Piana. I was delighted to receive an invitation for a meet and greet for a sales position. The store is small and the collection was beautiful I was a bit surprised on the Menswear RTW not the best. My background has been in Mens RTW for the past 11 yrs . Meeting with the store manager was okay we went through the general questionnaire on work history blah blah. The history of loro piana what makes them exceptionally great in fabrics and clientele loyalty. So far so good until the interviewer starts to name drop people that I never worked with and only new in passing. She started to zoom in on a brief job I had and wonder why I wasn’t there long ? Reasonable question not the right fit I have over 20 plus years in RETAIL luxury and home interior. This person has been in her position for 10 yrs and her staff old timers 20 yrs. It should not be a surprise when interviewing applicants in retail to move around, retail is not the same 25-30 yrs ago. Where you see individuals in cushions position until change occurs in the organization 2022! where people who are clerks and are not checked on is when their forced out. I left feeling not seen, not heard and feeling judged. Nor did I get to my success stories and my contributions in sales . This person wanted to know if I even made a million dollars in sales in my past companies. I never got to answer here is my response Yes I have Yes I exceeded my MTD and YTD . It’s really unbelievable and unfortunate that this blatant disregard behaviour continues . After leaving she ended we are still interviewing we will be in touch. I immediately sent a thank you email following with references from Employer’s and added references from clients upon request all who are in the top tire list 20k. No response no thank you nothing reminder as you are looking for top Candidates these individuals are also interviewing you and your acceptance to diversity and inclusion. My final thought when you are left feeling absent it’s not the place to be as high techs are in demand so are loyal hard working and amazing sales professionals. The people make the brand reminder careful who is representing yours because word of mouth that’s factual in truth matters!
