      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at LuxuryEscapes (Sydney) in Nov 2024

      Interview

The first stage was a screening call with the hiring manager, where we shared introductions and the hiring manager gave me an overview of the role and set expectations. Second to that there was a call with a recruiter who organised the face to face interview and explained the process. The second round was a face-to-face interview in person in the office. The office was very unwelcoming and did not seem like a pleasant space to be. After being led into the room to wait on my own for the two interviewers I was joined by the hiring manager and a more senior product manager lead. The interview was structured by behavioural and situational questions. The questions felt extremely unnatural and specific to problems that they are clearly facing as a product organisation. In giving a second answer using the same role as the previous answer, with a very specific example to the question they had asked, I was interrupted and told to think of a different answer using a different answer. The two interviewers both had a laptop open in front of them and were clearly typing to each other while I was answering questions. The interviewers were very awkward and did not strike me as good communicators or good interviewers. I have never had an interview as awkward as this. At the end of the interview, there was very little in terms of a goodbye or communication of next steps. There was no follow up or feedback provided afterwards, other than an automated email to say that I would not be progressing. The email contained a voucher to use to spend on the platform (an extra $100 when you spend over $500).
