      Executive Assistant Interview

      Feb 27, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Media Services (Los Angeles, CA)

      Interview

Applied in january via Craigslist and they reached out. Did a phone interview with a very nice woman in HR it was very brief and straight to the point. Went in for an in person interview twice and met with the ceo of the company. Seemed like a very fun guy but from walking the halls I don’t think anyone really liked working there or perhaps the day was just dragging for everyone ... the actual interview with him was sort of all over the place as they have never had and EA before so the questions ranged from personal to business and felt like getting to know a group of friends. It’s been a little over 4 weeks and I haven’t even heard from them. What’s up with companies not telling you whether or not they hired you ? Hard to say it was bad or good because nothing came out of it *shrugs*

      Anonymous Interview Candidate

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Media Services in Feb 2019

      Interview

Without exception, the most condescending, unprofessional in-person interview I've ever been a part of. The high-level executive - who, mind you, has never had an assistant before, but is purportedly in need of one - denigrated my experience from the jump. The arrogance was more than a little amusing, because I was interviewing for a job without a job description, or a desk. But, you know, details will work themselves out in time! That's usually a red flag, especially for a company that's been in business for a few decades, but I'd be committed to building out that description with the right company. Brainstorming aloud my potential responsibilities, the exec mentioned that they forgot to tie their shoes, and I could provide helpful reminders like these. This was the level of our conversation. You might think I'm just making this up because this review is anonymous, but I am not. At times during my conversation with the exec I wished to forget my name, my vitals, the cosmos itself. I got the impression that I simply should have been grateful to even be in the room with them, which is a great, mature quality for an exec to give off to a potential assistant. Other reviews here from employees have suggested a culture of fear, and unprofessionalism: I felt those things acutely, and I was only interviewing. I was genuinely happy to be done with this interview. I felt I had passed a test on some deeper, significant level, and I left the office in a state of relief.
