      Application

I interviewed at Ministry Brands (Atlanta, GA)

      Interview

Great process overall. I was interviewed by four different leaders within the company. Each conversation focused primarily on my past experience and leadership approach, though the questions felt fairly standard and surface-level.

      Sales Director Interview

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Ministry Brands (San Antonio, TX) in Jan 2024

      Interview

I applied to a sales leadership role on LI. A "Talent Acquisition Partner" contacted me via e-mail on 12/15/23 with an invitation to book time on his calendar for a "30 minute phone screen". I booked the 1st avail time slot on 01/02/24. I joined several min prior to the scheduled start time. Several minutes past the start time, no one joined the call. I sent him an e-mail asking if we were still going to meet and he immediately opened the bridge. The call was strange and awkward, at best. I fully expected to hear about the company, a review of the JD/role, discuss my resume and have an opportunity to ask questions at the end. Typical phone screen. He immediately turned the call over to me and asked, "So, tell me about yourself". I proceeded to provide a general overview of my experience and accomplishments. He proceeded to ask me twice throughout the call if the OTE met with my expectations, but he provided no other specifics. Then he asked if I would be willing to meet with the hiring manager, which I agreed to. He moved to adjourn the call and stated I would be receiving a follow up e-mail with scheduling options. This intake call lasted a total of 15 minutes. I received an invite for 01/04/23 to meet with the hiring manager, but it was scheduled outside of business hours without asking me if the time was acceptable beforehand. It was to be a video call via MS Teams so I prepared to be on camera. Later that afternoon on 01/02/24, I received an invitation to meet w/another sales leader on the team...this was in advance of my meeting with the hiring manager. Unheard of. Why would I be scheduled to meet w/a team member prior to having the hiring manager vet me?? However, I accepted it and that meeting was scheduled for 01/08/24. On 01/04/24, I opened the MST meeting, w/video on, several minutes prior to the scheduled start time. He was 7 minutes late to the call. When he joined, he explained that he was leaving a wrestling event that he coaches, was driving, therefore he would not be on camera. Again, the call was turned over to me to discuss "what I was looking for" in my next role. I kept my response in general terms, which he did not accept. I was pressed VERY hard to explain what I "value", the type of "culture" I like, the type of sale and the business segments I prefer, etc. His questions were extremely leading in nature and I was made to feel like he was disqualifying me for the role vs. finding out about ME and MY experiences, MY accomplishments, etc. through an organic, professional business conversation. I also felt that he was phishing for whether I would be "aligned" to the religious nature of their software product and target customer base. He made a point to explain HIS alignment to several organizations of which he and many members of the team are members. At one point during the call, he referred to me by another name and when I asked him about it, he stated that he had just seen an e-mail from someone by that name and it was on his mind. I was never asked about my previous roles, experiences, successes, etc. during this call. It ended with him asking me to "think about this" since he was "unclear" about what type of role I want. It was insulting. I read the JD, I have (and provided) documented successes and I possess the required and preferred qualifications and skills as outlined in the JD. I kept the invite for 01/08/24 and met with a member of the sales leadership team. He was very pleasant and was candid about the challenges due to M&A activity and the company making sharp turns with little to no planning, communication, etc. This tracked with the large number of negative reviews about the company. When I asked about his movement from a service role to a sales role, he stated that it was due to him "bumping heads" with his previous boss. He then referred to his involvement as a pastor and how many employees are also involved in charitable activities. He then expressed w/pride about how his boss (the hiring manager I spoke with) has mentored him. During my intake call, the Talent Acquisition Partner outlined the interview process as follows: 3 interviews total...Intake, Hiring Manager, Team Member. I followed up with him 2 business days later (01/10/24) via LI message and asked for feedback from my meetings with both the hiring manager and the team member and for next steps. No response. I sent him an e-mail on 01/17/24 and asked directly for a status of my candidacy and if I was still being considered for the position. No response. Finally, on 01/18/24 (after business hours), I used the same thread and cc'd the hiring manager requesting to withdraw my application for the position. I then received a reply early today (01/19/24) from him stating that another candidate was selected for the position. I then rec'd TWO rejection e-mails despite my written request to withdraw my application. WORST interview process ever.
