      Sales Development Representative Interview

      May 12, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Amsterdam
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Miro (Amsterdam) in Apr 2020

      Interview

The process took a total of 1 month - one month and one week.(A total of 8 interviews and 10 calls) First call with human resources, second with the hiring manager, then a business case, after 2 calls about my sales skills, another call with the Head of sales. After that and thinking that was the last step, the human resources told me that they liked my profile so much that they forgot to do a last interview about culture fit with a person from another department, which is my surprise when that call is from again with someone from the sales department instead with someone from other department. The following conversation with human resources explained that I have to do another interview AGAIN due that the person that supposed to do the interview with me was busy and they made me a call just to waste time. (Giving me very positive feedback and creating illusions about the position) after making that last call, a total of 8 interviews and receiving all the very positive responses. Human Resources calls me back and finally told me that I have not been chosen. At first my image about the recruitment process was very positive and very serious, after the fourth interview it seemed like a waste of time and pointless, since they gave me false illusions and made me continue having meaningless interviews like the one I had with Another sales person when the call should have been with someone from another department to explain how communication between departments is and the culture of the company is. I had a rather negative impression and I had the feeling that I wasted a lot of time. In summary, about the selection process, they give you false hope, it is a process that is too long and in which they are not sincere (I have asked if there were other candidates, but the answer was very vague) I would have preferred that they were clearer and they told me that they were deciding with other candidates instead of saying that they loved my profile and that's why they skipped a call ... I like transparent and serious companies. Regarding the product, I think it is GREAT and the people seemed quite talented. I think it is a good place where to grow professionally since people looked quite interesting and smart, and I see a lot of potential in the product.

      Interview

Four step process, including mock call. Fairly straightforward process. They are looking for people who are genuinely interested in sales and building a long term sales career. They also are looking for strong disco call skills

      Declined offer

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Miro in Dec 2021

      Interview

30 minute phone screener with recruiter, 30 minute call with hiring manager, 30 minute mock discovery call, 1 hour panel with manager and current SDR, then a final 30 minute executive interview with a VP. It's an extensive process but I appreciate that I got to talk with people in different positions. Overall it was a positive experience interviewing with Miro, but I passed on the offer as it was low for the market-rate and Miro plans on switching to a hybrid work model which just isn't necessary.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Miro (Austin, TX) in Sep 2021

      Interview

I only made it through three rounds of interviews. The first two rounds were incredibly curt and went through more than one last minute time change (I had an interview scheduled for 5:30 and the recruiter texted me at 5:31 asking if we could reschedule). The company is expanding very quickly, and they hold a lot of their SDRs in high-regard, which is incredible and not something I want to diminish. But at the same time, it can make the interviewer feel less important, and adds more stress to an already difficult experience. When I was able to speak with someone about the role, they seemed mostly apathetic towards my interest and experience, and more interested in explaining that I would need to ask a lot of questions- while at the same time they are so quick to get off the phone with you that you don't really have time to pick their brains without going over time (my second interview was 30 minutes, and they spent so much time talking that we didn't get to an opportunity to go over questions until 28 minutes in, and they made a point of reminding me that we only had 2 minutes left).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Standard questions like: where do you see your career going? What are you looking for in your next role? What kind of experience do you have in SaaS sales? What kind of experience do you have in sales in general? How good are you at time management?
