      Senior Backend Engineer Interview

      Sep 24, 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Amsterdam
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Miro (Amsterdam) in Aug 2020

      Interview

The overall process was very good and communication was very quick from the HR during the whole process. It took 4 weeks from first interview to getting the offer. There were 5 rounds: 1. HR screening call (30m) 2. Coding challenge (home assignment). It took some time. There was a mandatory part and few optional. 3. Technical interview (1h): Focusing on technical knowledge and a bit on behavioral wrt how one handles issues. 4. Team interview (1h): Focusing on team culture and collaboration values. This round is with the team you will work with. Miro seems to have a strong focus on team culture and values which I liked. 5. Final round was behavioral wrt leadership and growth with the head of department.

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Miro (Amsterdam) in Nov 2020

      Interview

The recruiter scheduled a 30-minute interview for an introduction and talked about my work experience. After the first interview recruiter sent me an NDA about the process. In order to continue, you need to sign it. After I signed it, the recruiter sent me their take-home test, which is a medium-level task. If you want to provide a suitable solution, you need a good knowledge of data structures. After I finished the take-home test, I sent the solution and waited several days for a response. The recruiter scheduled an interview to discuss my solution with developers. In that interview, developers also asked some technical questions outside the solution. After the technical interview, the recruiter scheduled an interview with the product team. If I can summarize this stage, they want to see if you can submit yourself as a software developer to the product team's service. They stated that even there are technical problems, they make the decision. Several days later, the recruiter reached me to give an update to tell me that I am rejected. As the recruiter told me, the developers I interviewed gave me and my solution a perfect score. The product team gave no which are the decision-maker of the process. It looks like developers are not first-class citizens.
