Interview

I was told my interview would be for position of product manager - IOT hardware instead, it was for Product manager- User experience. And i was given a foolish assignment which was not linked to my role at all. You guyz need 10 rounds of interview for one person, isnt’ your Hiring manager capable to identify the strengths and weakness of candidates. Unnecessary steps and people have just convoluted this process who actually had no relevance to this role. Even after confronting they proudly say its their process without logical reasoning. Stop doing stupid tactics with interview process. Even during arrange marriages we are not introduced with so many people. Without paying they make you do their company work. Asking about company’s problem and improving. The biggest down side!

Difficult Interview
Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Motive in Oct 2023

Interview

There were 9 interviews total which was really excessive in my opinion, although it could be because I was a referral. Recruiter, hiring manager, a presentation round with a panel, and deep dives in tech, design, and product topics, then a meeting with the VP of product and the CPO. The recruiter was very responsive and friendly. I really liked the hiring manager and everyone I spoke with. Everyone was super friendly. That is until I spoke with the CPO which was a required last step before an offer. The meeting with the CPO was supposed to be a "casual chat" but turned out to be an interview which caught me off guard. He grilled me on bizarre industry-related questions that were more PR/marketing related in my opinion. Until the CPO "chat" it seemed like everything was moving towards an offer. However, this one experience prevented the offer from going through for reasons they wouldn't explain. It was unfortunately a waste of time for me and for the people who interviewed me. The experience with the CPO left me with a really bad feeling about the company and ultimately I'm glad it ended the way it did because I try my best to avoid political drama at companies.

Interview Questions
  • For the presentation they provided two prompts; one specific to the role and one more general. The general prompt is to come up with a feature and provide information on that feature.

Interview

I applied in October, and after that, I went through several procedures. 1) HR call to check basic fit 2) Manager call to check the basic fit 3) Technical task to check tech skills 4) Final Interview with the product manager After these, I was quite confident to get a package but even after a whole month there has been no update, and after reaching out to the recruiter multiple times I either get you will hear soon from us or a cold shoulder. They're recruiter seems highly unprofessional and lazy to me.

I applied online. I interviewed at Motive (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2023

Interview

I applied on company website and received email to submit my availability for the HR phone screening. The call was scheduled and the morning of, about an hour before the call, the recruiter said they had to reschedule. She asked me to update my availability and then ghosted me. Motive don’t waste our time. Have decency to respond to someone you reached out to and don’t just ignore us. This exposes your culture at your company.

Interview Questions
  • I was ghosted so only question I was asked was to resubmit my availability

Overall I had a terrific experience with the recruiting/hiring team. I was first phone screened by a recruiter who very comprehensively described Motive and the SDR role. She was highly engaging and motivating and thorough throughout the whole process. She provided a very in depth preparation for meeting with the hiring manager which was also a very engaging and positive experience.

Interview Tips

Got booted from my former position about 4 years ago, which I LOVED. I have the impression I was "kept" in sympathy. Now that I have my feet beneath me, I feel like I'm running in place. Over the past 2 years, I've probably applied for about 100 positions in other departments. True, a few were unlikely moonshots, but for the most part I didn't misrepresent myself. Am I the world's worst interviewer? Otherwise.. shouldn't I have been accepted elsewhere, by choice?

Administrative Assistant

I haven't worked since Jan. 2020 when my job as administrative assistant for the Hospitalist group was eliminated. I can't begin to count the number of applications submitted, interviews I've had, jobs that I was told were mine then they weren't, etc. Several jobs have fallen through or not panned out. I am not a job hopper and want to stay where I go. I have a zoom interview tomorrow for a front desk receptionist position at an oral surgeon's office. Any interview tips are appreciated.

Hey all, I’m looking for advice on program manager hypothetical interviews such as: “what would you do if X happened?” Is there a particular thing or core value that Bloomberg looks for? Thanks!
