The volunteer coordinator asked me a few questions over Zoom after which I was offered a volunteer position on the spot. Then there was an online training followed by an in person training session.

Why do you want to be a volunteer? What has been your journey with mental health?
After submitting a resume, I went in for a quick interview. It was fairly standard. Besides asking about past experience, the interview focused on my motivations to help those experiencing mental health crises.

Interview
I had a phone interview. They ask what your experiences with mental health are, what you'd like to contribute, and what your experience is. Very understanding, nice, and helpful. They normally are looking for candidates with a personal history of mental illness, or experience having directly been involved in the care of a family member with mental illness.
