      Senior Manager Interview

      Aug 14, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at NIO (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

I applied online and was called by the recruiter to schedule an initial phone screen. The conversation lasted 15-20min and then I was told that They would like to bring me in for an initial meeting with the hiring manager. The recruiter told me the hiring manager couldn't meet until at least two weeks later. Eventually, I was scheduled to meet with the hiring manager. I showed up 10mins early to check-in. I was situated in a small interview room with a monitor. The hiring manager ended up being 25min late to the interview and apologized for The delay. You'd think that it was all planned out if they were expecting me to come in at least two weeks in advance! We had a very high-level discussion about the team, objectives for the company, and specifics around the role. I ended up having to stay an extra 30min to ensure that I was able to get my full interview time. A week after the interview, i followed to check and see whether the team has made a decision and was told that they would get back to me within the week. Then Friday came and went and I never heard back. Eventually, I realized that the role was filled theu social media.. So unprofessional of them to say one thing and then never even follow through!

      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at NIO (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

The company has no respect to its candidates. Multiple no shows, nonsense excuses. It was absolutely clear to me that it's a dump company to talk to when they said "our team is very busy traveling around the world" What's your availibity in the next 6 weeks? Huh? there was no sense of urgency. Classic Chinese newcomer to America.

      Question 1

how much are you making? Are you married? Can you work overtime to accommodate China's schedule? It's a salary position so no overtime pay...

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at NIO (San Jose, CA)

      Interview

First met with the recruiter and then several employees. I liked the variety of people that I met since it gave me a better understanding of the company and the strategy of the San Jose site. Also I learned about how San Jose HQ was relevant to the overall NIO brand. The interview process took a little over 2 weeks.
