I have been working at NIO full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I have been at NIO for more than 2.5 years. I have seen a lot and worked with many people at every single level. I write this review with a perspective after just reading every review on here. It's definitely telling that the reviews represent the different phases this startup has experienced, typical of a growing company. Fortunately, many things have been done to continually make NIO (US and China) a good place to work....

    Cons

NIO seems to be undergoing some teenage growing pains. As others have mentioned, there needs to be better alignment between the China and US operations. In my assessment over the last few years, this is the main problem. Fortunately, with the the recent change I believe William Li will make this a priority.

I have been working at NIO full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

I get challenged every day, I'm learning a lot, great coworkers that treat you with respect, free lunch is ok, unlimited time off and great work/life balance.

      Cons

Inexperienced management in the San Jose office

      Advice to Management

US office needs more information about deliverables to be able to plan accordingly. Hire management with more experience. Hire experienced engineers.

I have been working at NIO full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Just about the best feature is daily lunch

      Cons

US engineering is terribly uncoordinated. Start-up style distributed loosely-independent groups means a free-for-all: misinformation, duplicated efforts, major architectural holes, or decisions are made by wrong teams, those that don't have expertise, or no decisions made at all. Many key decision makers are not even inexperienced or wrong type of people are put in place to make the calls. "Oldtimers" those few that...

I worked at NIO full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Work life balance, free food, working with unique technology

      Cons

Any semblance of teams trying to work together for a common goal is long gone. A lot of projects have stalled due to politics and authoritarian managers.
