Interview
Got referred by my teacher. Met with professors selected to run the program. They asked about my skills in computing then I was assigned research projects in which I had to present.
2 interviews: one phone screen and one in person interview. NSF was quick about setting up interviews and each interview was brief, less than thirty minutes each. Interview questions were standard, environment was pretty casual

Fairly straightforward. Was applying through a referral, so not much in the way of rigor. Just some general fit questions and discussion about the projects they had on hand.
