    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at New York Magazine.

    Interview

I applied online, with a hell of a cover letter. Got an email a few days later from HR asking for my salary requirements. I gave a large range, knowing if I didn't give anything they'd just move on. I had a phone interview set up within a few days with the product manager.

Tough interview. When I sent a thank you and then a follow-up, I heard nothing. After about 3-4 weeks, after the timeframe given had been passed, I followed up with the HR person, who told me that the role had been filled.

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at New York Magazine.

    Interview

I initially applied online and didn't hear back for over a month. Unexpectedly, I got an email to come in a week later. No trick questions, just the normal ones you would expect. I truly hate when they ask you things like 'Whats your worst quality?', etc. but there was none of that. I would say overall their hiring process is slow. For me it took over 3 months.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at New York Magazine (New York, NY).

    Interview

I interviewed with the editor in chief's assistant who was a recent graduate and conducted a very informal question-and-answer type session. One thing I do remember as being very strange was that the position was described poorly and incorrectly, and there was no clarification until the end.

    Application

I interviewed at New York Magazine (New York, NY) in September 2016.

    Interview

The whole interview process took about 2 months! I went through the entire process, from phone screen, 2 onsite interviews, and a take home assessment. During the first onsite, I met with the director of product and couple of PMs that's currently there. The PMs did not look like they were interested at all! The 2nd onsite was with the engineering team and the Head of Product; they seemed more engaging and wanted to have a good conversation to determine my skillsets. Afterwards, I had a take home assessment which consists of roughly 4-5 questions regarding product management. When I was told I didn't get the offer, I asked for the reason and they stated that they think I can do the job but needed more experience. Why take on a interview process for more than 2 months if you are on the fence?

I applied online for the Junior Reporting Internship with the Daily Intelligencer. They asked many in-depth questions in the application: What would a good headline look like? What would my pitches be? How would I cover a hypothetical situation?

    Interview Questions

    • Asked the typical questions about experience, career goals and expectations. They also definitely wanted to know what I would have put on the Daily Intelligencer for that day. They wanted to know if I had read news stories that I think could have been covered better.   1 Answer
