I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Newsela (New York, NY) in May 2018
Interview
The interview process was very smooth. First, the SDR Manager conducted a 30 minute phone screen and then I was invited to the office for an on-site interview with the inside sales team. I met with the SDR Manager, an SDR, and the National Sales Director for separate, formal 30 minute interviews. I was transparent with Newsela about my timeline because I already had an offer on the table that required a response the week after my on-site interview with Newsela. I was scheduled for a follow-up interview with a few other key members of the interview team, but due to my timeline, they quickly accommodated my needs and were able to have those members of the team meet with me that same day in order to expedite the process. I was extremely impressed by how seamless, professional, and accommodating the whole interview process was. Between my interviews, Lauren, the in-house recruiter, made sure to check-in with me to see if I needed anything and to see how the interviews were going. All of the team members that I met with were very personable, honest, and passionate about Newsela. After my on-site I was sure that this was the company for me!

Question 1
What unique skills or experiences would you bring to the team or this role?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Newsela (New York, NY) in Feb 2019
Interview
First interview was with a recruiter via phone, followed by the Sales Manager. Next step was to visit the NYC office to interview in person with Sales Operations, Sales Manager, and Marketing department. The culture questions from marketing made me extremely uncomfortable and what I considered offensive. Aside from that, the team was passionate and open to answering all the questions I had and future of the business.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Newsela (New York, NY) in Oct 2016
Interview
Initial 20 minute phone screen, standard questions. After that, 2 hour interview onsite - 40 minutes with 3 employees within sales. Be prepared to speak intelligently on Newsela's mission and for a mock call. The recruiter called me the next day to schedule a final 2 hour interview - 40 minutes with 3 executives. This seemed to be a cultural fit interview and was more conversational. After connecting with my references, they called and offered me the job.
Overall, the interview experience was really enjoyable. The conversations were natural and pleasant - never once felt like I was being grilled. The recruiter was super responsive and supportive every step of the way. Its clear that they care about their employees and the strong company culture they've created, and the interview process revealed that.
