Terrible.
I applied for a marketing role and was contacted by the head of the company, which felt sudden / abrupt but perhaps promising. After six phone calls, a presentation to his CMO, and then a presentation for his team, he informed me that an offer was likely on its way. It never materialized, and he did not respond to my follow-up communications. It's pretty clear to me that he just wanted to get as much work from me as possible, while also mining for insights about his competitors, where I've previously worked.
The specifics of the job seemed unclear, and he kept explaining that they weren't sure if what they actually wanted was a content marketer, a brand marketer, or a VP of marketing. All that said, at no point in any of these interviews did anyone ask me about leadership, team management, problem solving, etc. He just wanted information about other companies and how I'd market his products.
