Question 1
Give me an example of a time that you have failed in your job?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Notabene (New York, NY) in Nov 2021
Interview
I was messaged by Rebecca Bradbury, a recruiter through linkedin about the role, she sent me a job description and asked me if I would be interested in the role. She requested for my resume and after sending her my CV, a few minutes later she asked me for my availability to speak with the Hiring Manager, and my availability to speak with her. She went on in setting up interview with one of the Founders (which by the way were 4 of them according to the person I interviewed with) We went on with the virtual interview. Throughout the interview, she kept moving around in a WeWork Location then our connection started getting spotty. She seemed nice in the beginning as she started talking about the company. We ended the conversation on a good note. I reached back out to the recruiter to get feedback on the interview...RADIOSILENT. They are a small startup company looking to grow. Which means leadership direction especially when many heads are trying to set up the company can be chaotic. Hence, the experience speaks for how it will be like working for this company. I have startup experience and if the interview impression about the company already is negative, most likely even the employment experience will be negative as well.

Question 1
How do you assess culture fit when interviewing a candidate?
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Notabene in Oct 2021
Interview
Applied online through a third party recruiter and heard back within 48 hours to schedule a phone screen. The recruiter didn’t know much about the company, the position, or what salary range they were offering. Spoke to recruiter for maybe ten minutes and she said she would set up a call with the hiring manager.
A few days later, had a zoom call with the COO, who was the hiring manager. She was quite young and not very well informed about my field of work. Notabene knows they have people problems and want to get ahead of them, which I commend them for, but they also want VP level work for only a Director title. And even worse, they were only offering $100k - $120k. Way below market for a Director position, much less the level of work they were asking for.
The COO said she wanted to move me forward and set up a conversation with the CEO. The COO said that there would be at least five more rounds of interviews plus a project, and she had the audacity to say that most people loved the process. It shouldn’t take 7+ rounds of interviews to hire for a non-exec position. The COO then ghosted me, despite saying she wanted to move forward.
If you want to work somewhere unorganized, unprofessional, and be underpaid, then by all means, apply to Notabene.
