      Graduate Developer Interview

      May 19, 2019

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Oddschecker (Hammersmith, England) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Initital CV check then a quick 30 minute call with a recruiter/HR - was very relaxed and friendly conversation. Passed the phone interview and given a hackerrank challenge with three questions. Nothing too tricky Invited to assessment centre in their HQ in Hammersmith involving: A group exercise - create or update a new feature to be implemented into the website, then give a 15 minute presentation with a Q+A afterwards with the tech lead/managing director and other staff. Some tricky questions asked but they're good for encouraging you to provide an analytical and logical answer - was fairly enjoyable. A technical interview - describe on a whiteboard a project you have been involved in showing backend/frontend and then basic Q+A questions surrounding your work. Then asked to inplement a lottery winner system where a user could win a prize - frontend/backend again with logic behind how the system would work. Easily the most enjoyable part of the day as the people who interviewed me were very friendly, encouraged me and gave suggested back and forth and were happy to chat about anything to do with the company with an honest response, which was welcomed. A compentency interview - generic 40 min interview asking typical STAR related questions with the managing director and a tech lead. Some questions were a little tricky but anyone doing this interview should be fine if you provide honest answers. They were very happy to move onto the next question if you cant think of a suitable answer. Food and drink was provided and lunch was free from Pret, we got to talk to some of the current staff members and a guy on the graduate scheme which was interesting. Overall my favourite interview process ive had by far. Recieved the offer about 3 weeks after the interview which was a little later than they expected and also provided with detailed feedback!
