Interview
To be in second normal form, a relation must be in first normal form and relation must not contain any partial dependency. A relation is in 2NF if it has No Partial Dependency, i.e., no non-prime attribute (attributes which are not part of any candidate key) is dependent on any proper subset of any candidate key of the table.
Partial Dependency – If the proper subset of candidate key determines non-prime attribute, it is called partial dependency.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Openstream (Bengaluru) in Aug 2013
Interview
One Written Test, 1 or 2 F2F Technical interviews, HR interview some times.
They had one really confusing written test nothing on which they will work in near future. Finite state machines, Linked Lists, binary trees, C fundamentals. Friend functions, operator overloading (C++) etc.
The qualifying criteria was unknown but I think it was less than 50%.

Question 1
The number of interviews depends upon how you perform in the first one. Say, even if you do well in the first F2F, you might be called for a next round. Some of us were even offered only after 15 min of F2F. So, a lot depends upon how you introduce your academic project.
Interview questions were pretty straight forward. Reverse a string, Finding the number of occurrences of a particular letter in a string. Academic Project etc.
Result was out in span of 5 days. Sunday - Test, Tuesday - F2F, Thursday - Offer.
