Phoenix Police Department - Arizona interview questions

Easy going, staff was kind and supportive, I did not feel attacked or uneasy at all during the interview. There were no trick questions and I felt comfortable talking to them. They were interactive during the interview as well.

Took a written test, physical ability test, completed a very long background packet, had a 3 hour interview about the background packet, then another 2 or 3 hour interview and a polygraph based on that background packet. Overall I was really impressed with the department, the officers I met, and how everything was conducted up to the point I got to the polygraph. I'd done a polygraph before, it was pretty simple and straightforward, and I passed no problem. This turned out to be a very unprofessional experience, the examiner was rude before we even began the interview, and at the end was told I failed (though I told the truth the whole time). It was very disappointing, and while I still have a lot of respect for the department, I don't plan on going through the ordeal again when it seems like a roll of the dice to get through. I talked with a friend who had the same experience just a few months after I did, and it turns out Phoenix's polygraph people are notorious for failing candidates. I really hope that some quality people are still able to get through and get into the career.
