      Engineering Manager Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Point in Apr 2026

      Interview

The process had several stages, and every single one left a positive impression. * Recruiter screen - Brett It actually started before the call. Brett's first response to my message had such warmth and genuine energy that I noticed it immediately. The call itself confirmed it, he wasn't just going through a checklist. He actually listened. Not every recruiter has that skill, and it set the tone for everything that followed. * Hiring Manager screen - Scott One of the most natural conversations I've had in an interview. Scott has deep knowledge but wears it lightly, he asks smart questions without making you feel like you're being tested. After that call I remember thinking: this is exactly the kind of person I want to work with. Three interviews in one day:EM, PM, and Presentation * The EM interview (Wei) was sharp and well-structured. You could tell she's experienced, she asked the right questions, listened carefully, and made the whole thing feel respectful and professional. I really enjoyed the conversation. * The PM interview ( Daniil) started with a genuine smile and great energy! which sounds small but makes such a difference when you're on your fourth interview. We had a real conversation about how EMs and PMs should work together. It felt like a discussion between peers, not an evaluation. * The presentation was probably my favorite part. I presented a project I had led to the hiring manager (Scott) and the Technical Engineering Lead (Sam). They were genuinely engaged, asking real questions, going deep, clearly wanting to understand rather than just evaluate. At some point it stopped feeling like an interview and started feeling like I was already on the team, presenting to colleagues. That's a rare thing. * Executive interview — Bavyaa (CTO) I had a technical issue with my internet right at the start. Bavyaa was completely patient and unfazed, it didn't affect the conversation at all. The meeting was scheduled for 30 minutes. We talked for an hour. It stopped feeling like an interview somewhere in the middle and became a genuine conversation, the kind you'd have with a colleague in the office. Her vision, her approach to engineering leadership, the way she thinks about the future it's exactly what I believe a great CTO should be. I left that call certain I wanted to work for her. Overall: What made Point genuinely different wasn't any single interview it was the consistency. Every person I met was professional, kind, and present. You could feel the culture through the process itself. By the end I had reached the final stage with two companies. I chose Point not because of compensation or title, but because of the people. I genuinely believe in the product, I trust the culture, and I was impressed by everyone I met. That combination is rare.

      Interview

The interview process was well laid out into an initial screen, followed by an interview with the department lead, a couple of technical conversations. It was clear the team had put a lot of effort and structure into the interview process.
