      Barista Interview

      May 25, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Wilmington, NC
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Port City Java (Wilmington, NC) in May 2017

      Interview

The interview process was a two-step interview process. I handed in my application to a manager in person where I wanted to originally work. She called me and ended up telling me she was no longer able to hire, but she would hand my application over to another manager at a place she thought I would really like to work. It took about a week to hear from the manager she had given the application to, and it took a few phone calls as well. The manager that I am now working under called me and we set up a time for an interview (which was two or three days from the date he called me). We interviewed at his store, out in the open (he actually sat me down right where I was standing). The interview went well so he told me that he would send over my info to the District Manager of PCJ. It took about five weekdays to get a call from the district manager. We scheduled an in-person interview at a nearby location (in relation to the one I interviewed at with the store manager five days earlier. They are about three blocks from each other.) We met, shook hands, and began the interview. This second interview was mainly clarifying any questions I had about working there, or elaborating on things that needed some clarity. He was super nice and very knowledgable! He answered all of the questions I had for him. I'm looking very forward to being a barista!

      Question 1

What does Port City Java have that other coffeehouses don't? In other words, why apply here instead of applying at a place like Starbucks?
