    Store Manager Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Poundland.

    Interview

Was asked along to a day long assessment centre following a 30 minute telephone interview. The assessment centre was very professional and gave a great feel of what it was like to work for the business. I have to say that I was really reluctant to attend but found the whole day really stretching and enjoyable. The company followed the assessment centre by giving good and well balanced feedback over the telephone and offered more detailed feedback if I wanted it. The hiring managers were very knowledgeable and quite aspirational. I left really wanting the job.

    Interview Questions

    • I was asked to do a role play with one of the asessors where I had to hold performance review of one of my team. I was given a full brief of the issues and was given time to prepare. It was pretty challenging, as the employee had a number of issues that I only discovered as the session played out. I had to really think on my feet.   Answer Question

It was a 2 stage Interview process, including a competency Interview with a presentation and another informal Chat with the Head Of Department. I was well informed throughout the process which is great, there's nothing worse than hanging around for feedback after you have attended an Interview.
