      Engagement Manager Interview

      Feb 27, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Portland, OR
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Prialto (Portland, OR) in Jan 2024

      Interview

Strange interview process where I never learned the actually salary or scope of the role. I spoke with 3 different employees and they all stuck to a script and didn't have many answers about what I would be doing.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      How do you prioritize projects?

      Application

I applied through other source. I interviewed at Prialto (Portland, OR) in Apr 2022

      Interview

The interview process started with a screening phone call with someone from the hiring team, 2 in-office interviews with various managers, 1 "conversation" with the CEO, 1 team lunch. The interview process for this role has since changed but there may be some similarities. They ask a lot of STAR questions to try to see how you may respond in client situations. They expect you to be overqualified for the role. They grilled me about my college transcript and asked about classes I had taken, despite having graduated several years before. This was odd to me but I complied. *They also required copies of my high school and college transcript. They asked about how I managed my personal finances. (Not sure why they needed this information) They offered me the role with a low salary, lower than my previous job - when I asked if the offer was negotiable, the manager was taken aback and started asking me again why he should even be offering me the role. It was very awkward. He then asked me how much I was making at my previous job, which was illegal, which I declined to answer. Very much a "You are lucky to be here" style of hiring process and company culture. The CEO is very out of touch with the cost of living as a young single person in the Portland area and is not interested in paying standard cost of living salaries or fair wages. *Some newer managers may advocate for more ethical compensation. While it was happening, I felt fine about the interview process, I was just happy to be getting a job. In retrospect, there were some serious issues, crossing legal and ethical lines and I was too naïve to see them. I wish I had trusted my gut and advocated for myself.
