Freelance Contract and Engagement Manager Interview

      Apr 5, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at QA (Slough, Berkshire, South East England, England) in Mar 2022

      Interview

I had 3 stages of interviews for this role. The first was with the current person in the position, the second with their manager and the third with the manager. The first stage was mostly competency based and fact finding around the role, this was great and very positive. The second stage was planned to be face to face with little flexibility. It involved a lot of questioning along the lines of the job description and how my experience relates, no competency questions. Not the most positive experience. The third interview I did not understand the purpose, I thought it was to get confirmation from the interview that I would be a good fit as it was only booked for 20 mins. He was not friendly or engaging and did not turn his teams camera on for the video call. He did not know when I would hear feedback either and was unable to indicate any timelines. I then did not hear anything for almost 2 weeks apart from they were still interviewing other people. I was then told I would not fit the role as they needed someone full time in the office for at least the first few weeks, something that was not mentioned at any point during the three stage interview process. Overall a really poor experience. There is no need for three stages if something such as remote/hybrid working will stop from hiring a candidate as this can be discussed before even the first round goes ahead. I received no formal feedback or rejection even though this process was very time consuming and dragged across almost 4 weeks. My advice to QA would be that the recruitment team monitor these processes for fairness and to ensure everybody receives timelines, communication, and feedback. Also to be clear before interviews take place regarding salary, remote working, and any non negotiables.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Can you tell me about a time you have used data to inform your decision making. Can you tell me about a time you have managed underperformance. Tell me about how your previous experience relates to this role. Otherwise questions were related to can you do X from the job description?
