I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Quantum Metric in Jan 2022
Interview
I cold applied via job listing on LinkedIn
- Phone screen
Standard
- Chat with an Engineering Manager
Semi technical interview, semi demo of the product, overall a fairly casual conversation, great opportunity to learn more about the company and culture
- Technical interview
I've read other glassdoor reviews before doing my own interview, and after chatting with my interviewer after the interview was done, it looks like they've recently changed/have been pushing towards a "better" way of interviewing.
I was given a React application, and there were multiple (~5-6) questions that could've been asked. The code + questions were sent out to me the day of the interview (I did not have time to review). The questions were fairly open ended and were intended to see how the candidate would code in a more realistic pair program-ish setting (aka not algorithms). Overall a very positive experience, and very friendly interviewer.
- Chat with upper management
VP of Engineering, CTO of Engineering, CEO
Nothing too technical, lots of opportunity to learn more about the company from upper management's side of things, my recruiter described the chat with the CEO as a "curveball", expect anything as he has a tech background and still occasionally contributes to the codebase.
Offer received shortly after final call with the CEO. I negotiated briefly, but was already pretty happy with the offer.
Overall extremely positive interview experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
5 different potential questions as a starting off point for a demo TS React app. Not expected to do all of them, only ~2-3. Interviewer would pick a question to work on for a bit, after the initial "question" has been answered, the direction to go is usually discussed between candidate and interviewer based on comfort/familiarity.
- Component creation/debugging
- Manipulating API response/object/array data
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Quantum Metric in Sep 2023
Interview
The most unprofessional and disrespectful company I've ever interviewed with.
I went through four interviews. First, a call with the recruiter. Second, a call with the hiring manager. Third, a technical round. Fourth, a call with the SVP of product and engineering.
After the call with the SVP, he told me I'd hear back the next day but I didn't hear from anyone for two weeks. I messaged the recruiter when I hadn't heard anything from anyone after a week had passed, but she didn't message back until a week later on a Friday night at midnight. The hiring manager then called me the following week and told me they liked me but decided to hire someone else.
To wait so long to get a reply from anyone after going through four interviews is incredibly rude and disrespectful. They need to make changes to their hiring team and processes.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Quantum Metric in Feb 2022
Interview
The interview process consisted of 5 steps following the initial screening by a recruiter — technical screening, live coding, and then 3 separate interviews (mostly behavioral focused) with the VP, SVP, and lastly the CEO. The technical portions tested both theoretical and practical JS and React knowledge.
